Project

Atelier - Verona - 2011

The restructuring has brought to light the original structure of what remains of a medieval palace in the historical center of Verona, which was used for different purposes and which has undergone massive transformations that have lost the traces of the original.
With recovery, the palace has become a space to house the workshop of a passionate collector and scholar of military art.

The original elements discovered during the restoration, the decorative plaster in addition to some colorful frescoes, inspired the project of renovation and construction. The underground space has been redesigned as a unified space bringing the bricks exposed brickwork of the vault showing the spatial coverage. The choice of materials and finish colors targeted is in keeping with a classic and modern alternative to tying design and functionality.

The lighting design took into account both the needs of architectural and functional by choosing a LED system with taut cables in low voltage, which has helped to preserve the ancient time, highlighting the curved volume and allow a functional lighting of the room as a study room with a direct light and direction for the consultation needs of the archives.
